Program Synopsis:  2009 CREW Network Convention

The CREW Network Convention in Boston this year exceeded all my expectations.

Not only did the convention have record breaking attendance, but the presenters were upbeat and the positive energy was contagious! 

The convention had over 900 attendees and 21 of the women were from CREW Chicago.

The Keynote Speaker, Ivanka Trump, the 27 year old daughter of real estate mogul, Donald Trump, also was a pleasant surprise.  At first I thought - inexperienced, privileged debutante, speaking to a group of some-what older seasoned real estate professionals - can’t we find someone with more experience?  However, Ivanka was poised and professional and filled with a number of interesting stories, some from her new book, “The Trump Card.”   She has a witty sense of humor and she is no dummy.  As Executive Vice President of Development & Acquisitions, Ivanka is charged with the expansion of the Trump Organization globally.  She was truly a delight.

My personal favorite is the morning netwalks.  Yes, they are early (6:30 a.m.) especially after the late dinners and “liquid networking” the night before.  This is a great way to meet new women, get some badly needed exercise and see the sites of Boston as the city starts to wake up.

The silent auction raises money for the CREW Foundation and this year, as always, the selections were endless.  The most unique donation came from our very own Jean Meilinger.  Jean had a beautiful patchwork quilt custom made from all her old CREW National Convention tee shirts. See photo below.

Our very own Collete English-Dixon has done a fabulous job as the immediate Past Chair of the CREW Foundation and is now the new CREW Network President-Elect.  Congratulations Collete!

The annual national convention leaves you feeling pumped and energized.  As  you return to your own life, after having met dozens of friendly, helpful, fun, professional women, you feel like you can tackle anything.
