CREW Careers 2009

CREW Careers 2009 was originally scheduled for April 25th but has been postponed to October 17th.  The event will be held from 8:00 am to 4:30 pm at DLA Piper’s offices, 203 N. LaSalle St.  This year we are partnering with Walter Payton College Prep High School and the Off the Street Club.

The main part of the day will encompass learning about various real estate careers.  There will be approximately 50 girl participants who will be divided into five groups representing five different types of space users (retail bank, medical office, high tech, insurance, and law firm).  The girls will rotate to five speaker groups staffed by CREW members who represent five functional areas of real estate (broker, architect/designer, lawyer, construction manager and property manager).  The girls will make a visit to a downtown office building to view raw space to help them understand how a space looks at the beginning of the process.

Each group of girl participants will develop a recommendation and present to a panel (acting as their company’s executive committee) about the office space they have identified, negotiated and designed in concept and why it is unique to their specific space user type.  The presentations will not be judged; all  girls will receive a certificate at the end of the day for their participation in the event.

We would like to thank all of the CREW Members who are volunteering this year, especially since postponement required the volunteers to review their presentations and meet for additional run-throughs.  Our volunteers have been extremely flexible and we are very appreciative!
