Cathy Stephenson leads the discussion on Building Your Strategic Competence.
CREW Chicago’s Leadership and Professional Development committee presented the second in the 2017 CREW Leadership Forum Series: The Strategic Leader on Tuesday, June 6 at DLA Piper’s offices.
This workshop focused on building strategic competence. Strategic thinking encompasses both a strategic mindset and strategic competences. The mindset of a strategic thinker is a collective process about the present, not just the future, which is both artful and analytical. Once we develop the mindset, the five competencies to work on are: Scanning, Visioning, Making Common Sense, Systems Thinking and Reframing. The participants worked in groups to apply the concepts to our own professional and personal situations.
The committee will be posting the slides on CREW Chicago’s website. Don’t miss the next installment in this series: CREW Chicago’s Book Club discussion July 12 featuring The Power of Habit, by Charles Duhigg.
Thanks to the Leadership and Professional Development Committee and DLA Piper for a thought-provoking session.
